Building a scalable online presence for Nottingham Lighting Centre

The Project
Alert Electrical came to us with a familiar challenge: a legacy Magento store that had become increasingly sluggish, difficult to maintain, and expensive to extend. Their team and customers needed a more efficient, scalable platform, one that could keep pace with both customer expectations and internal operations.
Our solution was a full migration from Magento to Shopify, paired with a headless architecture that used Sanity as the front-end CMS. This decoupled approach gives the Alert team the flexibility to scale content and commerce independently, while significantly improving site performance and usability for their consumers and partners.

To modernise Alert Electrical’s ecommerce experience, we migrated the store from Magento to Shopify, offering a more agile, cloud-based commerce platform which removes the burden of server maintenance and scaling, while providing a faster, more secure, and more reliable shopping experience.

The result was a fully decoupled architecture with Shopify powering commerce, and Sanity handling content.

A critical part of any platform migration is ensuring that existing content and SEO equity are preserved. For Alert Electrical, we took a meticulous approach to transferring their entire content ecosystem, which we are also implementing, including products, categories, pages, blogs, and case studies.
All metadata was migrated accurately, and wherever possible, product and collection URLs were retained to safeguard existing rankings. For any changes in site structure, we implemented a detailed redirect map to maintain link equity and user flow. We also used a staging environment to thoroughly test content, layout, and technical performance before launch.
